Produce a high-quality recording of African-American Spirituals by Eric Dozier and sung by the One Human Family Gospel Choir.
Produce a high-quality recording of African-American Spirituals as well as traditional gospel and inspirational music composed and arranged by Eric Dozier and sung by the One Human Family Gospel Choir. We love the music and we want the music.
Eric Dozier has agreed to convene an 80 person international mass choir with world renowned soloists to make this high quality recording if we can come up with enough money to pay for the expenses, but we have a deadline of Dec. 14th, so lets do it!
We already have about $10,000 in in-kind contributions and with recording costs, transportation, mastering and mixing we calculated that we needed an additional $15,000.
ADDITIONALLY all people who pledge will get a FREE copy of the album electronically! So if you're going to buy it anyways, pledge now so we can make it happen!
This bounty can be collected by One Human Family Music Workshops Inc.

Full Circle
In 1980 I was in North Carolina - I had come from England and I was traveling around the USA for six months. I was shocked and angry and very upset by the racism that I saw in the South. Now I am Canadian and living in Victoria BC and I joined a local choir whose name I loved - "One Human Family". I discover that the roots of the choir are in that exact same part of the world, North Carolina and that your aims, Eric, echo those needs that have been sitting so heavy in my own heart for all these thirty years: a need for ONE Human Family. You have found a way through music to heal our human past, address unity in a positive, loving and joyful way and light our path into the future. Wow... At last, my heart has found a voice to address what it was so shocked to learn in 1980. Thank you Eric for your insight and wisdom and love and energy.

BC Gospel Choir "Crowd-funds" their $15,000 Recording Project
Unlikely partnership with Victoria-based startup BountyUp, Inc. makes collaborative new financing possible
One Human Family Gospel Choir (OHF - http://www.onehumanfamily.org ), known for drawing on the timeless spirit of traditional gospel music, has found itself in an unlikely union in cyberspace - working via the internet with communities and individuals across North America to finance their upcoming recording, entitled "The Pilgrimage Project... A Return to Center".
On December 14-16, OHF will gather representatives from its US and Canadian chapters to form a mass choir of over 80 singers and musicians, for a live recording of traditional spirituals, gospel and inspirational music. Featuring world-renowned African-American gospel soloists, the event will culminate in a Gala Concert on December 16th, at the Cowichan Theatre in Duncan, BC. The recording will be released in February of next year, in honour of Black History Month.
OHF is headed up by Eric Dozier. He is renowned as a popular arranger and conductor of gospel music, mainly for his work with the World Famous Harlem Gospel Choir ( http://www.harlemgospelchoir.com ). His goal of "develop[ing] bonds of friendship across racial, religious, cultural, age, gender, and socio-economic lines" has brought together local citizens from Victoria, Vancouver, and Duncan, with such cultural luminaries as JB Eckl ( http://www.jbeckl.com/ ), (former producer of Santana, Sting and Mary J. Blige), and Gergana Velinova (http://www.gergana.net ), a Bulgarian Soloist and First Prize Winner of the 2002 International Chamber Music competition Music and Earth.
The Pilgrimage Project was inspired by OHF's goal of "Uniting the World, One Song at a Time", and will represent a unification of the US and Canadian branches. According to Mr. Dozier, in keeping with the spirit of pilgrimage, "We would like to completely 'crowd-fund' the project... In other words, instead of asking one person for $10,000 we are asking 1,000 people for $10, or 10,000 people for $1. In return, each contributor will receive an electronic copy of the finished recording."
The concept of crowd-funding is not new, but this may be the first time it has been applied to recording, and directly supplants traditional reliance on government grants or production sponsorship, according to Todd Khozein, cofounder of BountyUp, Inc. and head of Amity Records, Inc. "This sort of new and innovative marketing is the only hope for the music industry."
So far the choir's "Bounty" (http://www.bountyup.com/bounty/One+Human+Family+Gospel+Choir+Recording ) has garnered pledges from dozens of individuals for a total of over $4,400. Says Mr. Dozier, "This is a revolutionary step in comparison to the more traditional methods of funding community arts projects or any recording project that I have ever been involved in. For me, it is quite exciting to see communities come together in this way!" OHF has until Dec. 14th to secure the remainder of their $15,000 budget.

RE: rounding up to a nice even amount
Have been hearing all over town how awesome the Choir is - and perhaps even more importantly, different members of the choir speak about how much fun they have getting together each week. That's the best and I'll do what I can to "bountyUp!"lynn
